Caitlin’s Three Words
Name: Caitlin Harpin
Profession: I’m the Editorial Director in a very creative office that creates children’s books and toys.
How I describe myself in Three Words: Timeless, Plucky, Imaginative
How I express my Three Words through my style: Vintage, classic styles appeal to me, and I always feel like my best if I’m wearing bangs, pearl earrings, and lipstick--three little things that always make me feel pulled-together, no matter the occasion. And I always go back to black tights and simple flats. They just feel like me.
I love well-made clothes that are equal parts practical and fun. I call this my Alpine Hiker look. It works for a day of walking or biking around the city, but the fur collar and hat give it character. Plus the clutch is big enough to carry a book.
Movies and books often inspire me to try something new. Right now it’s January in New York and I’m really into channeling Princess Leia’s look on the ice planet Hoth: lots of winter whites, jumpsuits, and chunky boots.
Words of advice on how to develop the confidence to be who you are: Wearing something unique and a little over the top is a great conversation starter. I’ve found that in my career and personal life, it’s best to wear what you truly love and what makes you feel your best, regardless of trends. Your wardrobe will start to work harder for you when it makes you happy.
