Noga's Three Words

Name: Noga Landau

Profession: TV Writer and Executive Producer/Creator of NANCY DREW on The CW

How I describe myself in Three Words: Feminine, Outspoken, Inventive

How I express my Three Words through my style: Coming up as a screenwriter and TV writer in Hollywood, I'd often find that I was the only woman in a room full of male writers, directors, and producers. I felt a lot of pressure to prove that women should be equally represented both in front of the camera and behind it. So I had to curate my sense of style to be feminine, but not too girly. Outspoken, but not too abrasive. Inventive, but not too gimmicky.

It was a little exhausting, to be honest.

Over time, I learned how to stop worrying about the stories my clothes shouldn't tell, and the ones they should. The styles I've chosen here all reflect my embrace of identity, as a woman, storyteller, and new mother. I don't question my fashion choices anymore. I wear what I want. Nowadays my writers' room for NANCY DREW is full of women (and men too!) who always look fabulous, and most importantly, know how to tell a good story.

Words of advice on how to develop the confidence to be who you are: The best advice I can give is to let yourself mess up. Don't let the fear of failing stop you from pursuing what is right for you. I've had to make impossibly tough decisions in my career--but as hard as many of them were, I'm glad I made them because most led me to success. That being said, a few decisions have led to heartbreak, and I'm grateful for those failures too. Knowing that I have the determination to keep going, even after a defeat, has given me the confidence I need to do my job.
