Kibi's Three Words

Name: Kibi Anderson

Profession: Tech Entrepreneur & Digital Strategist

How I describe myself in Three Words: Colorful, Authentic, Visionary

How I express my Three Words through my style: I always like a pop of color in everything that I wear. I also choose comfort over form while still keeping it stylish—you might find me rocking a funky pair of sneakers with a more traditional business suit. Fortunately, I work in an industry where that kind of look is okay. I’m also adventurous but know what works for my body, so I stick with what is tried and true in terms of the designers I work with. I use Rent the Runway, which I think is useful for taking those kinds of risks.

Words of advice on how to develop the confidence to be who you are: Start with what brings you joy—that will allow you to lean into things that are aligned with your purpose. If you start with joy and take steps that emanate from there, you are well on your way.

For example, when I started working at Bloomberg, a very traditional media organization, I wore more muted colors and styles. However it affected my mood and energy and I wasn’t showing up as my more vitality-filled self.

I started leaning into things that made me happy and were distinctly Kibi while still keeping it professional. For example, I would wear a basic black dress with a colorful scarf, statement earrings and bracelets.

As a result, I started showing up in a more authentic and honest way, and my work began to reflect that same energy, making my output much better overall too.

While it’s important to be mindful of company culture and traditions, don’t miss out on ways to reflect your individuality. You are always building your brand and your work will be the better for it!
